BABE OF THE WEEK

Austin, meet Selina. Selina, meet Austin! You all know how I love a sassy lady with an attitude, especially one who could possibly have a tittie falling out at any point in the evening. A lady that exudes confidence and spunk all wrapped in a stylish little bow. Now, that bow might reek of whiskey, late nights, and questionable decisions, but she's a looker nonetheless. I would like to welcome Selina Hinojosa to the Miss Austin Babe Barn. You'll fit in quite well here, Selina. There's nothing but farm animals, Candyland, old PBR cans, sloppy kisses and Johnny Paycheck playing in the background. It's kind of utopia.

Hunk and Babe of the Week - Update!

Love birds, Ceci and Zach.

Do you remember these two? She is a Babe, and he is a Hunk, and I brought them together back in November with my Hunk and Babe of the Week piece. Well, now they are now dating! That's right, after my little posting these two met and hit it off! They owe me their first born, and I'm cashin' in! Gimme that baby!

Babe of the Week!

This Thanksgiving, I am thankful for hot tamales. Meet, Cecilia Mireles, this week's hot tamale Babe of the Week! Cecilia warms my little brown heart with her sassy Latina look. You all know how I love me a foxy Latina, especially one with bitchin' style, and a smartypants mouth. Dudes, come on, give this lady a kiss on her dainty brown hand because she is our Babe of the Week!

Hunk and Babe of the Week - Couples Edition!

It's that time! It's rare I pick a twosome to represent the Hunk and Babe of the Week, but these two are so irresistible, they got me right where is feels good. Two great people, equally adorable, individually creative, and partners in crime. AND, they just got hitched. She is Autumn Spadaro-Cali, top-bitch photographer. He is Rich Cali, musician/painter. Together, they make a sweet, sweet couple, and help comprise hugely popular Common House (along with Adam Mendez, Conner O'Leary, Will Gaynor, Mike Combs, and Patrick Lillard).  He is also 1/3 of Volcom's own, Broken Gold.

Pessimist.  Bad taste in music.  Bad taste.

What is your deal maker?
Confidence. Active. Sense of humor.

What do you love most about Austin?
I love how health conscious this city is. I’m a big outdoorsy person so I fit in well here. Great variety of food….oh the food!  Love how casual it is here, anything goes. Friendly folks. Art, film, MUSIC.

Where do you like to hangout? So Miss Austin fans can stalk you...
Justine’s!  East Side Showroom, Dirty Bills, Shangri La, Bouldin Creek Coffeehouse, Black Swan Yoga, Barton Springs, Town Lake!

I love old music videos, it's a shame they aren't what they used to be. Which old music video would you say speaks to you the most and why?
‘She Sells Sanctuary’ by The Cult.  I feel this song in my bones!  Makes me wanna flip a table and dance all night long.

What was the first record/tape/cd you purchased with your own money?
‘Closer’ by NIN on tape. I wore green doc martins and a maroon bomber jacket. I was 12 years old.

Who is more likely to make your nipples hard: Bruce Springsteen? Freddy Fender? Charo? John Wayne? Bill Hicks? John Goodman? Someone else?
BRUCE FREDERICK JOSEPH SPRINGSTEEN.  Always and forever, and ever.

You are not someone who gets lost in a crowd. How do you describe your style? Any favorite pieces you own?
My vintage cowboy boots that I bought in Berkeley, CA in 2005. My style is a representation of how I feel each day. I put on what feels right and makes me feel good. I also LOVE red lipstick.

Anything else we should know about you? Any projects in the works? Fetishes? Arrest record? Bastard children?
My name is Pickels. I have a dog named Springsteen. My grandma was a cotton picker. I bought groceries with food stamps as a child. I used to be an advertising exec in Hollywood. I've owned two homes. I love a good honky tonk. I am now a proud dark chocolate addict thanks to my boyfriend. My dad is a redneck and the hardest working man I know. My mom is a sweetheart. I love a strong coffee and good wine. I'm obsessed with food, and fascinated by people. The end.

Babe of the Week

In honor of one of our favorite Babes moving on, we have decided to re-post her interview. We wish you well in San Francisco, Karinne. Come back to see us! Tonight we are drinking beers and wishing her bon voyage. Cheers!

Name: Karinne Lee Thornblom
Occupation: Assistant Brewer/Cellarer @ Black Star Co-op; Bartender @ Yellow Jacket Social Club
Single: Yes
Age: 31

What is your deal breaker?A little, tiny Mousekowitz voice.... or an overcompensatorannosaurus rex...unless they have both, for I’d genuinely find them entertaining.

What is your deal maker?
Someone on par with my sense of humor, which may not be saying much.

What do you love most about Austin? The people. I’ve never lived anywhere where I’ve felt such a sense of family- batshit crazy, incestuous as we might be...oh and that my momma lives here too.

Where do you like to hangout? (so Miss Austin fans can stalk you)
You can stalk me at Black Star and Yellow Jacket of course, the usual palatable bars, Common House art shows, local breweries, my couch.

I love old music videos, it's a shame they aren't what they used to be. Which old music video would you say speaks to you the most and why?Hmm- well, I dunno if this one speaks to me the most, but it’s always left an impression: Depeche Mode’s, “Enjoy the Silence.” I had just seen that video before moving back to Madrid and while on the plane listened to that album (on my shitty walkman of course) non-stop. I suppose I loved the video because it was so incredibly absurd and beautiful at the same time...read in to it.

What was the first record/tape/CD/ you purchased with your own money?Simpson’s Sing the Blues! I once could master Bart’s voice and would exhaust my vocal chords while singing along...somehow it was worth it.

Who do you feel most akin to - Bruce Springstein? Groucho Marx? Juice Newton? Freddy Fender? Charo? John Wayne? Someone else?
Punky Brewster? Everyone told me I looked like her when I was little and...then I totally ran with it and tied a bandana around my knee. I also later got in to Punk. Then later became a Brewster. HEEEEY-OOO!

Anything else we should know about you? Fetishes? Arrest record? bastard children?
I can whistle through my tongue. I went to a Spanish Catholic pre-school in Madrid, run by German nuns...so I spoke Spanish with a German accent the first few years there. I played/coached lacrosse. I have insanely, OCD, neat handwriting. I’m much shorter than people realize. Oh, and I have the most incredible circle of friends.

Babe of the Week!

Who is that hot, sassy lil' thing with Austin culinary king, Paul Qui? We were wondering the same thing. Meet Deana Saukam, our first official Summer Babe. She is kind of living the dream right now with all the traveling and devouring great food from all over the world. We are officially jealous. Bring us home a doggie bag, Deana! We love fearless, stylish, smart, strong women, and Deana is one of those women. That Paul is a lucky dude. Raise your champagne glasses - or your 40s - to the Babe of the Week! Cheers, D!

Name: Deana Saukam
Occupation: Bon Vivant, Professional Eater, Harlem Globe Trotter
Single? Taken
Age: 29

What is your deal breaker?
Picky eaters, anorexia, lack of drive and ambition, pushovers, comb-overs, leftovers.

What is your deal maker?
Nerdy, sweet, funny guys, with style and ambition.  Must be able to enjoy life and a great meal.  Also, Alexander Skarsgard or Paul Qui.  ;)

What do you love most about Austin?
Everyone in Austin is so great.  It’s just really easy and relaxed, and so easy to get around.  I really like that everyone in the city is really excited about food lately – it’s amazing.  Love the hills and the lake too.

What was the first record/tape/cd you purchased with your own money?
I am going to go with Guns N Roses’ Appetite for Destruction.  I could have repeatedly stolen it from my older brother, from whom I “borrowed” a lot of things, but I do remember listening to it everyday when I was 5 or 6.  I had all the words memorized and was convinced that Slash was my real mother.

Where do you like to hangout? (So Miss Austin fans can stalk you)
We’ve been traveling a lot recently, so when I am in Austin, I really like hanging out at home with our 2 cats, Goose and Bear, usually on the sofa or in bed.  They’re really cute and cuddly.  If I do leave the house, there is usually food and/or shopping involved.   Favorite places to eat/drink in Austin: Uchiko, East Side King, Lenoir, Second Bar + Kitchen, Kome, Sagra, The Liberty Bar, Weather Up.

You are not someone who gets lost in a crowd. How do you describe your style? Any favorite pieces you own?
I can be pretty lazy when it comes to getting ready, so anything that is bright or with prints are easy to spot in my closet.  On a day-to-day basis, I usually just throw on whatever I can put on first.  Sometimes I end up looking a little crazy.

If I have to look presentable, my go-to designers are Alexander Wang, Rag & Bone, Mara Hoffman, Stella McCartney, and Mason by Michelle Mason.  If I am out, I am usually always wearing very high-heel wedges (at least 5”).  My newest ones are from Lanvin, Burberry, Chloe, and Pierre Hardy (all purchased last week!).  I might have a little bit of a shoe obsession.

Do you have any tips in regards to dating for the single ladies and dudes out there?
Don’t settle, and don’t be afraid to make the first move.  Be confident!  Have fun.

Anything else we should know about you?  Any projects in the works? Fetishes? Arrest record? Bastard children?
I might be working on some new projects soon, but it’ll be a surprise (maybe even to myself).  No arrests or bastard children except for maybe my plants that are all semi-dead now.  Other than the above mentioned shoe obsession – food, travel, and fashion.  Those are all pretty normal though.

Booze and Babe, what else do you need?

What are y'all eating?! I want!

Too. Much. Sweetness.

I just want to close by saying her answers to our questions fucking ruled! With sass like that, she is well on her way to Babe of the Year.

Babe of the Week!

Name:  Melissa Cox
Occupation:  Party Relations / Public Relations / Puppy Relations. I work for a creative PR agency in Austin and then do my own thing on the side, Music Box Media – PR for musicians, artists and other creatives.
Single? As long as I publicly profess my love for Justin Bieber’s newest single “Boyfriend,” I’m pretty sure I’ll be single for a long while.
Age: 23

What is your deal breaker?
Allergic to or dislikes dogs… (Yes there are people who don’t like dogs. No, I don’t associate with them).

What is your deal maker?
Must Love Dogs. Ambitious – I don’t care what you’re looking to do or who you’re looking to be as long as you’re looking to be or do something. Similar interests as me, but enough of a difference to where we can both expose each other to new things and ideas. Someone who makes me laugh, and doesn’t mind my intense crushes on all of the characters of Friday Night Lights. Taylor Kitsch, call me, k?

What do you love most about Austin?
It would definitely be Austin’s sense of community. People truly want to see you succeed and they have your back. I think in many ways, you have to earn that respect, but the city has the greatest creative and collaborative culture. The Tex Mex is great, the margaritas are ready and you can always find a local band (or twelve) to fall in love with.

Where do you like to hangout? (so Miss Austin fans can stalk you)
My bed, with Netflix (Friday Night Lights) and a bottle of wine… But you can also find me downtown catching live music or sipping a Bloody Mary on the East Side (usually Rio Rita’s). I’m hoping to spend a lot more time at Barton Springs now that the weather is warming up.

I love old music videos, it’s a shame they aren’t what they used to be. Which old music video would you say speaks to you the most and why?
“Thinking of You (I Drive Myself Crazy)” by *NSYNC. It’s creepy as hell. Like, what were they thinking? Where was their publicist?

What was the first record/tape/cd you purchased with your own money?
Tragic Kingdom – No Doubt. And I still want to be Gwen Stefani when I grow up.

Who do you feel most akin to? Bruce Stringsteen? Groucho Marx? Juice Newton? Freddy Fender? Charo? John Wayne? Someone else?
John Wayne. Growing up on a ranch in Texas has definitely helped me become accustomed to a Western lifestyle. I’ve killed a copperhead with a tree trimmer; I ride horses and own (and can shoot) a .22.
Note: Yesterday my dad killed a snake with grilling tongs. A month ago, he killed one with a bow and arrow. I learned it all from him. #IndianaJohn

Anything else we should know about you? Fetishes? Arrest record? Bastard children?
I have a pretty clean slate. Though, I will warn you, my dream is to have an orphaned dog farm, so, someday I'll probably have lots of bastard children. (But of course I will never call them that). I often log my misadventures and family conversations on my blog and you can always catch me tweeting at @mellypeacox.

SXSW - Hunks and Babes - Wed Edition

Day 1 is down the tubes. I had a great time at the Liberty yesterday, lots of love to them and From the Mind of Adi for a great show. These are some snippets of the day, and the Hunk and Babe of the Party:

SXSW - Babe of the Week!

And the madness begins. To kick off SXSW right, I have a hot piece of lady love to wet your whistle. I ran in to this dame at The Mohawk and she was a pleasant burst of energy from the get-go. I hope you see her around town this week. Bow to her, she is the first SXSW Babe of the Week, Tiff Dyess.

Name:  Tiff Dyess
Occupation: Freelance Producer, Co-Owner No Comply Skate Shop
Age: 33
Single? Yes

What is your deal breaker?
Agressive trivia nerds are just the worst.

What is your deal maker?
Love me an unavailable man child with little to no financial resources.
I'm naturally nurturing and live for a good challenge, so let me play Wendy to your Peter Pan.

What do you love most about Austin?
How over matched all the men are. Dudes in this town don't stand a chance. But it's sad for the girls though, we could all do better if you ask me. Maybe if the dudes just tried a little harder, you know, make themselves a little more worthy of living in this paradise, blessed with beautiful goddesses at every turn.

Where do you like to hang out? So Miss Austin fans can stalk you...
No Comply Skate Shop, The Woodland, Black Swan Yoga, Frank.

I love old music videos, it's a shame they aren't what they used to be. Which music video would you say speaks to you the most, and why?
Nushooz "I Can't Wait"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_Yx0X-eHn8&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Who do you feel most akin to? Bruce Stringsteen? Groucho Marx? Lyle Lovett? Freddy Fender? Charo? John Wayne? Someone else?
Goldie Hawn. Classic manic pixie dream girl complex.

Anything else we should know about you? Arrest record? Fetishes? Bastard Children? Secret crushes?
I'm usually not this sarcastic, but I had to get a little buzzed to deal with the idea of being Babe of the Week. Sarcasm is like, my third favorite -asm, after org- and protoplasm.

January 23, 2012

Babe of the Week!

Name:  Donna Barton
Occupation:  Visual Stylist/Slinger of vintage threads
Single?  I'm off the market
Age:  Thirty fun! (But not much longer)

What is your deal breaker?
Republicans, flip-flops, anyone who looks grossed out after a dog licks/kisses them, verbal abuse, meekness, Rush.

What is your deal maker?
Massages, motorcycles, old west mustaches (sorry I don't think they are always ironic), southern hospitality, handy men, animal lovers, blue eyes, ZZ Top, a man who buys me wine, and most importantly, a man who always does the dishes (I hate dishes!).

What do you love most about Austin?
Cedar Fever! (Just kidding, but it is hitting me pretty hard today). All of my great friends, margaritas and patios, queso, and how dog friendly this town is.

Where do you like to hangout? (So Miss Austin fans can stalk you)
Thrift stores for therapy, my back porch drinking wine and watching my dogs wrestle, Yellow Jacket Social Club, Long Branch Inn, Polvo's and Musashino as much as possible

I love old music videos, it's a shame they aren't what they used to be. Which music video would you say speaks to you the most, and why?
Well we didn't have cable at my house till the late 80's so I had to watch MTV at friend’s houses. The first videos I really remember affecting me were the ZZ Top videos with the ZZ Top girls: "Legs" and "Sharp Dressed Man". I thought the ZZ Top girls were so cool and I wanted them to come make me over. A few years later when I was a little older and more rebellious, I remember recording and playing The Beastie Boys (You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party) over and over. I was in love with Ad Rock. I even made my own video version of the song with some friends at Six Flags, he he.

Who do you feel most akin: Bruce Springstein? Lyle Lovett? Dolly Parton? Freddy Fender? Charo? John Wayne? Someone else? Why?
For sure Dolly Parton. We are both southern girls who like to talk a lot and have a have country accents. I wish I had her rack and her ability to come up with the wittiest one liners. Also Jolene is my favorite song EVER, probably because she has flaming locks of auburn hair. Oh and Steel Magnolia is one of my favorite movies, I know all the words.

Anything we should know about you?
No deep dark secrets or hidden children. I love to watch History Channel documentaries. I am in a super tough street gang called The Summit Street Home Girls, and I can't achieve a tan no matter how hard I try.

I love, love, love this sassy fun lady! We need more of her everywhere.

Babe of the Week!

I hit the jackpot with this week's Babe. Not only is she cute as a button, but she's sassy and plays drums in a great band. She's my kind of gal. Erica is one of those really cool broads who, surprisingly, is single! Her last boyfriend must be kicking himself for letting her go. Gals like her don't stay single for long, that's for sure. Here's Erica:

Name: Erica Barton
Occupation: Full-time Event Planner/ Part-time Rocker
Single:  Yep
Age:  Thirty-Fun!

What is your dealbreaker?
Ignorance, jerks, junkies, meekers (meek people), neon colored clothing, deep v neck t-shirts, people who don’t like animals.

What is your dealmaker?
Kindness, intelligence, funnies, mustaches, MAN-ing up, assertiveness, you can even be a little bossy.....

What do you love most about Austin?
The beauty of the Hill Country, the swimming holes, the food, Alamo Drafthouse, the ability to see an awesome local rock show and/or an awesome big show like Loretta Lynn or the Stooges most nights of the week.

Where do you like to hangout? (so Miss Austin fans can stalk you)
In my above ground pool, at the grocery store, Home Depot, anywhere outdoors that I can go with my pups.  Seeing shows at the Scoot Inn, Beerland, the Mohawk, and fer drinkin’ (and some good eatin’) the Yellow Jacket!

I love old music videos, it’s a shame they aren’t what they used to be. Which old music video would you say speaks to you the most and why?
I love old country videos. I identify with Loretta, Dolly, and Tammy on just about everything.

Who do you feel most akin to: Bruce Springstein? Lyle Lovett? Freddy Fender? Charo? John Wayne?  Someone else? Why?
Charro because she likes to shake that booty and she’s the only one without a penis.

Anything else we should know about you?  Fetishes? Arrest record? Bastard children?
My record is clean and I have no bastard children.  Fetishes…did I mention earlier it's okay if you’re a little bossy?

August 8, 2011

BABE OF THE WEEK

Name:  Victoria Ebli
Occupation:  About that….
Single:    Nope!
Age:  22

What is your dealbreaker?
Ignorance, bad grammar and bullies. I really hate when people are mean to someone else to make themselves feel better. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll make a snide comment here and there, however, I would never go out of my way to hurt someone’s feelings or belittle them in any way. I won't be around people like that either. Oh, and people who hate cats. You don’t have to love them, but if you can’t tolerate them, I can’t tolerate you.

What is your dealmaker?
I’m not giving up Ian’s secrets! Although, I love a man who can cook.  A huge thing for me is someone who works hard - works hard for something they care about, works hard to achieve their goals. Passion is sexy.

What do you love most about Austin?
The food! The people are pretty all right too, I guess.

Where do you like to hangout? (so Miss Austin fans can stalk you)
I’m at YJSC often, Shangri-La and Liberty. Most of the time though, in my apartment watching Netflix or at the gym.

I love old music videos, it’s a shame they aren’t what they used to be. Which old music video would you say speaks to you the most and why?
Oh man, when I was little I found out that the musicians weren’t really performing the songs in the video like I thought they were. That realization ruined music videos for me forever. However, I love ‘I Want to Break Free’ it makes me think of my best friend.

Who do you feel most akin to: Bruce Springstein? Lyle Lovett? Freddy Fender? Charo? John Wayne?  Someone else? Why?
Anybody on this list: http://www.tallwomen.org/famous/

Anything else we should know about you?
I still sleep with the teddy bear I’ve had since I was two weeks old. I have his name (Danny Bear) tattooed on me too.  Lastly, I’m horrible at remembering/recognizing people. It’s nothing personal; chances are I’m just thinking about what I’m going to eat next.

Our Hunk and Babe this week are lovers and they're adorable.

June 21, 2011

BABE OF THE WEEK

Name: Kristen Klas
Occupation: Paper pusher for The Art Institute
Single?  Nope
Age:  32

What is your deal breaker?
Guys who constantly have to be the center of attention.  It is sad and pathetic.  I especially hate the guys who have a shtick with their clothing/accessories.  Your corn cob pipe makes you look stupid.

What is your deal maker?
If you have a good laugh, I will follow you anywhere.

What do you love most about Austin?
I haven’t been here that long, but I love the seemingly endless possibilities for fun.

Where do you like to hangout? (so Miss Austin fans can stalk you)
I think it’s left over from my youth, but I love a good house party. Otherwise, give me a great jukebox (at the right volume), cheap drinks, and bartenders who like what they are doing and I will be a happy lady.

I love old music videos, it’s a shame they aren’t what they used to be. Which old music video would you say speaks to you the most and why?
It has to be ZZ Top’s Legs video.  It’s got everything you need - the hot car, the hot ladies and some great “villains”.  The nerdy girl with big glasses gets a hot makeover, grabs her hero and goes off in the sunset in a dune buggy.  I wanted to be her so bad.  Plus, I had big glasses and some long legs.  The song was meant for me!

Who do you feel most akin to: Usher? Bruce Springstein? Lyle Lovett? Freddy Fender? Charo? Someone else?  Why?
I am going with a fictitious character, Sweet Dee from Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia.  She holds her own.

Anything else we should know about you?
I am a horrible speller. Guess how many times I had to look up the proper spelling in this questionnaire.

June 9, 2011

Babe of the Week!

I love when I find a hot Latina tamale, warms me up inside. Here is our latest Babe, Roz, she's adorable and she's single. Watch out, dudes.

Name:  Roz
Occupation:  Events Coordinator. Yeahhh...I like to party.
Single:    Yes.
Age:  23

What is your dealbreaker?
I don’t think I’m too picky when it comes to dudes...but it really gets under my skin when their fingernails are longer than mine, they don’t brush their teeth (no fellas, mouthwash does not count as a toothbrush substitute. I grew up with two older brothers, I know what’s up), and playing R&B (primarily in the bedroom) I respect the jams and all but that’s just not my style.

What is your dealmaker?
First things first, I love a great smile. Smiles are one of the first things I notice when I meet someone and it immediately draws me in.  I also dig a guy that knows how to give and receive a genuine compliment (key word there is genuine). Oh and my girlfriends always tell me my theme song is “Bossy” by Kelis (ridiculous, I know, but I’ve learned to embrace it) so if you can put up with me bringing all the boys to the yard then you are pretty rad in my book.

What do you love most about Austin?
Asking me to narrow down my love for Austin to one particular thing is like asking me what do I love best about Rocky Road ice cream...ya know? The chocolate ice cream would be nothing without the marshmallows, nuts, and chocolate chips and vice versa. To sum it up, I love the chill and relaxed vibe I get from the city, obviously the music and art scene is definitely a BIG plus, the friends I’ve met here are some of the most loving people I know, oh and queso sure helps!

Where do you like to hangout? (so Miss Austin fans can stalk you)
Pretty much any waterhole during the day, that should be a given. On a chill night you can find me sipping vino and cooking up some deliciousness with the girls at my place. If I’m feeling a little frisky you can usually find me at some dive bar in town, the eassst side, but if in doubt, I’m most likely at Sidebar.

I love old music videos, it’s a shame they aren’t what they used to be. Which old music video would you say speaks to you the most and why?
Hands down, George Michael’s nineties hit, “Freedom.” Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Cindy Crawford, and a bunch of other gorgeous babes...need I say more?

Anything else we should know about you?
I am a lefty so puhhlease don’t sit on the same side of the booth as me, not just because I think same side sitters looks ridiculous, but if that’s the case we will most likely be bumping elbows all night.

Babe of the Week!

We are doing a twist on this week's Hunk and Babe. The lucky chosen are Austinites who no longer live in Austin but are hoping to make their return very soon. (We are aiming to get both of them back here to be Miss Austin interns!)  Our Hunk lives in New York City, and our Babe in Los Angeles. East Coast vs. West Coast. Check out their bios below, who do you love??

Name:  Kamala
Occupation:  Actress
Single?  Yes
Age:  30

What is your dealbraker?
Manorexia. Oh, and once I had a dude read me the bible after sex. It was some passage about how premarital sex is a sin. I felt like Monica Bellucci in Irreversible.

What is your dealmaker?
Apple-shaped bottoms and a sardonic sense of humor.

What do you miss most about Austin?
The QUESO! And boys who open the door for you....mmmmm......chivalry!

Where do you like to hang out when you're in Austin?
Hula Hut, Emo's, Don's Depot, Guero's, and Rudy's BBQ

Anything else we should know about you? Fetishes? Arrest record? Bastard children?
I love hairy chests and strong hands. No kids that I'm aware of. I actually have a warrant in Texas for some bullshit so I'm exiled in L.A. for now. I also like to steal shit.

Babe of the Week!

Babe: Kelli
Occupation: Shopgirl
Single: Used to be before I met my husband
Age: 33

MA: What is your dealbreaker?
K: Unemployment and flip flops are two sure ways to turn me into a born again virgin.

MA: What is your dealmaker?
K: Funny, always gets me. The first time I stepped up to the counter to order a coffee at the bakery my husband was working at his first words to me were "I like your shirt, I like your pants, I like your shoes." I laughed and my co-worker standing next to me assumed he was gay--I think probably until our wedding. Also being called darlin', but you may need a southern accent to pull that off correctly.

MA: What do you love most about Austin?
K:  I love the wealth of patios and general outdoor entertainment possibilities.

MA: Where do you like to hang out?
K: Home with my husband drinking beers on the patio, which often turns into all-this-beer-makes-us-think-we-can-dance-party in the living room. If I end up out and about you will find me on the patio of a Mexican restaurant drinking a margarita. Which often ends in shenanigans. True story: my friend and I drank a pitcher of margaritas at polvos and proceeded to made jackasses of ourselves when we excitedly approached Wynonna Judd at the table next to us just to let her know that we loved her, Austin loved her and Texas loved her, to which she graciously responded to the two giggling drunks standing in front of her that she loved the love.

MA: Anything else we should know about you? Fetishes? Arrest record? Bastard children?
K:  I have too many fetishes too list, it would give me a hand cramp writing them all down. Amazingly, I have never been arrested. My worst encounter with the law was an MIP at 19. On that particular subject I can say that after failing a sobriety test it's never a good idea to claim you have only had one beer and then ask if you can pee behind their police car.
